Use digital tools with clarity about what they do—and what they do not do.
This notice describes the privacy design of this website and its AI-assisted tools. It is informational and should be read together with the AI Disclosure and Terms of Use.
Website use
Public pages can be viewed without creating an account. This website may generate standard hosting and security logs through infrastructure providers such as Vercel. LCE should not be sent passwords, Social Security numbers, bank-account credentials, or other unnecessary sensitive identifiers through general website forms or the AI assistant.
AI-assisted conversations
Questions submitted to Ask LCE are sent to an OpenAI API endpoint through LCE's server-side integration so the system can generate a response. The implementation is configured with store:false for these API requests. Ask LCE is designed for general orientation and navigation, not for legal, medical, eligibility, emergency, or partisan political decisions.
Document review
When a user voluntarily uploads a supported PDF or image, the file is transmitted over HTTPS to the serverless document-review endpoint and then sent to the OpenAI API for analysis. This application does not intentionally write the uploaded document to an application database or long-term file store. The OpenAI request is configured with store:false.
No online system can promise absolute confidentiality. Do not upload a document if you are not authorized to share it. For highly sensitive legal, immigration, health, financial, or identity documents, contact LCE by phone before using the upload tool.
Language translation
When a user selects a language other than English, public page text may be sent to the OpenAI API to produce a translated version. Translation requests are limited to public website copy, not private document contents. Machine translation can contain errors, so important decisions should be confirmed with a qualified human interpreter or LCE staff member.
